In response to the vulnerability of people fleeing the war in Ukraine, often in desparate situation seeking for refuge and jobs to cover their vital needs and earn a livelihood, IOM in collaboration with the National Labour Inspectorate trained altogether 75 inspectors from Labour Inspectorates.

IOM conducted these trainings in Banská Bystrica, Košice, Nitra and Trenčín from 18 to 24 October 2022. Their participants received basic information about human trafficking and its mechanism. They also learnt about which are the most common myths associated with the human trafficking, how to recognize risky situations and what to do and where to turn if they have a suspiscion of human trafficking.

The focus of trainings was given also to the topic of labour exploitation that may occur e.g. in the conditions of illegal work – that inspectors could meet in their work. They learnt about how victims of human trafficking might react in this environment, what to expect in this situation and what effects it might have on victims.
