IOM delivered blankets for an immediate distribution for people fleeing war temporary accommodated in Kosice, ensured health safety of refugees, helped mothers and their babies on their move to Slovakia and provided the City of Košice with the rental of the bus transfer for people in need. This IOM assistance was made possible by financial support from the Japanese Government.

With support from Japanese Government:

  • IOM delivered 700 blankets from its warehouse in Košice to the largescale registration centre in Michalovce.
  • To minimize the spread of diseases, IOM delivered hand sanitizing stands to the Hotspot Červená Hviezda in Košice and to the largescale registration centre in Michalovce.
  • IOM in cooperation with St. Elisabeth’s University of Health and Social Sciences equipped breastfeeding space with core items for mothers and their babies on the move from Ukraine that cross the border at the Vyšné Nemecké Point of Entry.
  • The City of Košice was also provided with the rental of the service of bus transfer for people in need from the Hotspot Červená Hviezda operated by the City of Košice at the bus station in Košice to their place of temporary residence.
  • IOM is able to assist to providers of first hand aid for people in need on the Slovak-Ukrainian borders and within the Košice region: Association of Christian Youth Communities, St. Elisabeth’s University of Health and Social Sciences, City of Košice and Košice Municipality.
